Hurray Team Philippines!

Congratulations for the six Filipino boxers who brought honor to our country!

Five out of six won their respective titles against the Mexican contenders held at Arco Arena, Sacramento California. Philippines now hold the Boxing World Cup title and Oscar dela Hoya will come to the Philippines to hand the trophy and the cash.

Philippines created a name again in boxing after Manny Pacquiao’s victory.

So sad for Boom-boom Bautista who lost against de Leon, that was his first lose. It would be a big sweep if not for that punch released by de Leon that gave Bautista a “starry starry night”, a technical knock-out. But he is still young, 21 years old; he had lot of chances to win more titles.

Gerry Peñalosa did a good job…the oldest among the six at 35. But he managed to win the New Bantamweight title after ten long years.

Congratulations! We are proud of you!

I am so happy that we won. Bautista lost but we were still able to take home the trophy. This success will raise the recognition of Philippine boxing as one of the best in the world. I hope this success will continue. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
